I saw !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and was inspired to solicit a little afternoon Oppo questioning. Being a Nutmegger myself I saw this title and could have sworn I knew them all. So a 2 pronged question: Do you believe in the supernatural? And regardless of the answer: What is the most "haunted" or creepy feeling road you have driven? Because just getting a bad feeling driving is exclusive of the first question.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
#1 my answer is 100% absolutely there is some supernatural force in the form of "ghosts". I have seen them, heard them, and lived with them. Noone can talk me out of it. #2 my answer is Chittenden Hill Rd in Clinton, CT. I once was driving late night and saw a naked woman running across the road chased by some dude in flannel about 20 years ago. I stopped the car and got out, right after they crossed, when all the sound of footsteps stopped and nothing could be heard. Heavy woods on both sides of the road, and my own footsteps at a creeping pace were loud as anything, and these people were hauling ass so should have been audible for a long while! Called out, nothing. Should have been 15 feet ahead of me. Yeah I got right out of there afterwards.

My grandad is a sceptical person and he swears this happened. He was driving across the moors here in england some years ago and saw a lorry barelling towards him on his side of the road. He panicked and swerved out of the way. He couldnt see the lorry in the rear view afterwards. He stopped down the road at the nearest cafe and as he walked in the person behind the counter asked "did you see the lorry?"

I don't buy into the whole 'Ghost' thing. Having said that though, the creepiest road I've ever driven (on multiple occasions) is definitely NY Rt 22. It travels pretty much from NYC to Canada, but the section from the CT border up through Cambridge NY is the section I'm most familiar with. Somehow I almost always end up there around 1 or so in the morning, with a full moon reflecting off the foggy hills. It's usually very desolate, save for the random people I've seen out standing on the side of the road, in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night.

Haven't driven it (don't even know if you can anymore), but the portion of PA 61 near Centralia, Pennsylvania is probably pretty creepy.

I don't have any spooky stories, but I'm fascinated by the supernatural, many aspects of the occult, and (yes, I'm going to say it) aliens. What is generally referred to as 'weirdness' is very, very compelling.

oh yeah, I have been down some desolate roads in PA in that area before. That is where they had the underground fires, right?

Clinton Road in New Milford NJ. I had read stories online about it, so of course one dark winter evening on the way back from skiing at Mountain Creek, my friend eased his Volvo 740 sedan down the dirt path that is Clinton Road. We all got out and were just kind of milling about when we heard a deep thrumming motor coming towards us. It keeps coming...but we don't see anything, it's a really dark night. So we start getting back into the car and all of a sudden we're blinded by several very powerful floodlights. We properly shit our collective pants and GTFO. The really weird part though was that after the initial brightness it got dark again, and we couldn't hear or see anything behind us, until the driver handed one of us in the backseat a big mag light and asked if we could see if the truck was still back there following us...it was...with no lights on. Fucking terrifying. It was probably locals playing on the ghost stories but still it was so scary at the time.

There's a phantom hitchhiker who hangs out on route 44 in Rehobeth MA. He is a red-headed man dressed in a flannel shirt. If you pick him up, he gets in the backseat, starts laughing, and then disappears. The Anawan rock is on the same stretch of road. Google that shit!

Ya...I haven't been back down there since. Fuck that.
I have heard there is a crashed fighter jet in the woods somewhere around there though, that's the only thing that would get me back up there haha.

I do believe in supernatural...having experienced a ghost in a pizza joint where I worked in college. It never really did much except call "Order in!" through the front window when there was no one in the restaurant. It also liked to walk between the bathroom door and back door out of the restaurant...but never when you were looking in that direction. The owners acknowledged the weirdness to me after I'd worked there for about a year. They didn't like telling new people for fear of freaking them out.
Regarding haunted roads, I've tested a few legends but never experienced anything concrete. The weirdest thing that ever happened was the '65 (I think) Impala that blasted past us the one seriously foggy night when we drove out to 'Crybaby Bridge' (something about a young mother running away with her baby crashed at the bridge & drowned, and the baby could be heard crying at night). We never heard anything at the bridge, but after leaving this big beast passed us like we were standing still...and we were doing about 50 at the time on a 2-lane country road at 11:30PM...in heavy fog. Never saw it behind us, never saw it ahead again.

While I refuse to believe anything, skinwalkers can get REALLY creepy.
My sister had one jump on the hood of her Subie looking like death was after her. She swerved back and forth to shake it off but it clung fast. Eventually she rolled it over and could find no trace of it. The Highway patroller told her she is not the first of go off like that.
My other sister and my cousin were in the back sleeping through it, I teased her about it until my cousin spoke up years later, she was so afraid she never mentioned it before.
I have another cousin who was driving his pickup with his girlfriend and they picked up a weird looking hitchhiker in a trenchcoat. He hopped in the bed and they drove on, miles later the car behind was flashing lights and honking their horn. They said their dog jumped out, there was no dog, no hitchhiker, but there was a filthy old trenchcoat.
These stories all center around the four corners area of the Navajo reservation.

I remember stories from years and years ago, when I lived in Boston after growing up in southwestern CT. Never made it up there, though. Did you witness/experience the "n0-birdsong" thing?

it was really quiet as hell. I experienced that one time elsewhere in CT. I dont know what the hell is back there either but just creepy. And when we came out we were blocked by state and federal cops, who let us go after ascertaining we "didn't see anything". I mean we saw the no trespassing signs but turned around after it looked we were driving down a valley going underground. We felt like we didn't WANT to see anything

Note to self - never pick up anybody, ever.

Never actually seen anything, but I did have a freaky moment in an outlying area of my home town when I was a kid (Bear Hole Rd, W. Springfield, MA). We were a bunch of scouts in a minivan heading to pick someone up and wound up accidentally going down one of those fringe roads that aren't paved, but still have a couple houses on them (my town was pretty suburban otherwise). All of sudden, a voice inside my head said "people have died here" and it was so out of the blue/unexpected that I wound up repeating the words out loud almost instantly, as if commanded to do so. The scout leader was not amused and denied it. Anyhow, over dinner that night I asked my parents and their immediate response was "who told you about that?" I couldn't convince them that no one had told me anything, except this weird voice out of the ether. They finally explained that yes, there had been a few bodies found in 55 gallon drums there many years back. And they said I should never go play around there, and believe me, they didn't have to tell me and I never went back there to this day.

wow yeah that is just crazy. It is always when your brain is relaxed and not expecting it bizarre stuff like that happens.
